FAQ
Do I need to register before I host a Big Night In?
Yes you should register or you can also call us on 020 3116 2735 to register as a host. What if I register and end up not being able to host a party?
If you register and then have to pull out, don't worry. You don't have any obligations to us following registration. If you can't make that specific night, it's ok to host the party another day ... every effort helps us immensely. Or if you have to cancel completely, we hope we'll see you next year! How do I choose a theme for my Big Night In?
Just pick a theme that appeals to you and your guests. You can make sure everything from your drinks to your decorations to your party games is linked to your chosen theme.Do I have to have a theme?
No, you can just invite your friends over and have a good time. You should choose to do whatever you think would be fun for your friends and manageable for you to organise. You can always jointly host an event with a friend so that you can share ideas and planning together. How many people should I invite?
You can have an event that is as big or as small as you like. You can just have your family or a few good mates round or you can organise a big party – you choose. No Big Night In too small; no Big Night In too large as long as your home is big enough! How much do I have to raise?
Every penny counts so if all your guests donated just 50p that would be great. Of course, the more you raise, the better it is for the charitable projects PiggyBankKids supports. What is the best way to raise money for the charity from my guests?
You can do this in lots of ways. You could set a rate for your guests to donate and let them know on your invitation. Or you could just tell guests that you are looking for donations – just have in mind an amount that you think is manageable if your guests ask you how much. Or you can leave a jar or box on a table and tell guests to put their donations in it during the course of the evening. You can also raise extra money on the night. You could have a pay bar (with an empty bottle or jar to insert donations) or charge for films/a go on the karaoke machine/anything really. You can also run your own games or competitions and charge £1.00 a go.
How much shall I ask my guests to donate?
You can either decide to ask your guests for a specific amount of money, or you can leave it up to your guest to make their own donation? The amount you ask for is up to you, but as a guideline why don’t you ask guests for the amount they would spend on a night out (minus the travel cost as they have made it to your home!)Another way to host an evening is to for you and your guests to pool together a fund to cover the cost of the evening and have something left over to send as a donation. You could decide to have half the fund go to the cost of the evening, and half sent to PiggyBankKids.
Can my guests make their donations in cash?
Yes, your guests can give you cash donations (and don’t forget to get the donations Gift Aided to increase their value). You can pay cash donations straight into any branch of Lloyds/TSB using the bank giro credit slip – just give us a call and we’ll send you one straight away. Alternatively, you can raise your own cheque for the amount you receive as cash.
Can my guests make their donations by cheque?
Yes, your guests should make their cheques payable to ‘PiggyBankKids. If you also get their Gift Aid details you will increase the donations by 28%. You can gather together any number of cheques which can be sent by post to the PiggyBankKids Office.
